Katie Loeper is a new resident of the Greater Chicago area. Katie took violin lessons since an early age, starting with the Suzuki method and then progressing to more demanding classes. A native of Rock Hill, SC, Katie also began voice lessons at the age of eight, and eventually majored in vical performance in college. During her music studies at USC, Katie was also active in local community theaters and Opera at USC. She performed in such shows as Martha, Candide, L’eliser d’amore, Oklahoma, and the Mikado, while performing lead roles in The Tender Land (Laurie) and Daphnis et Chloe (Chloe). She also had the honor of performing the National Anthem at numerous USC Baseball, Basketball, Soccer, Volleyball events, as well as for the 2014 USC Commencement Ceremonies. When she wasn’t on stage, Katie spent time singing for various church congregations and teaching voice lessons at her former high school, and is an alumnae member of Sigma Alpha Iota, Honorary International Music Fraternity for Women.
After graduation, Katie moved to St Louis, MO, where she resided until moving to Chicago. While there for only a few years, Katie’s fondness for teaching grew immensely during this period. Katie was heavily involved in the Kirkwood Children’s Chorale as the Choir Manager and as a private music teacher. She also worked with New City School as Assistant Music Director for their Performing Arts Department, helping to produce such shows as Aladdin Jr. and Back to the Future. Additionally, Katie founded Just Sing! Studios, teaching private lessons to middle and high school students in the St Louis school districts. She also continued to sing professionally, enjoying two seasons with St Louis Chamber Chorus and working with Opera Theatre St Louis. She currently lives in Lockport, IL with her husband and two dogs. When she is not singing, she enjoys reading, hiking, and kayaking.

Myra Hinrichs Violin and Piano Teacher

Ms Myra Hinrichs: Violin ($27), Viola ($25.5)

A graduate of Oberlin College and Conservatory, where she studied with Gregory Fulkerson as a violin performance major in addition to receiving a Mathematics degree, Myra began playing the violin at age 6 in Saint Paul, Minnesota. When not at Oberlin, she has spent three wonderful summers at the Aspen Music Festival, studying with Naoko Tanaka, and has also been a fellow at the National Orchestral Institute and Mimir Chamber Music Festival. In 2012 Myra was a member of the National Repertory Orchestra, and most recently of the Spoleto USA Festival Orchestra. At Oberlin she performed in the Oberlin Contemporary Music Ensemble and as principal second violin and concertmaster of the Oberlin Orchestra and the Oberlin Chamber Orchestra. She is a founding member of the contemporary string trio Chartreuse, and also of the jazz sextet deturtle. She now resides in Chicago, Illinois. In addition to performing in the Madison Symphony, she teaches at several music schools in the greater Chicago area.

Lauren Watkins

Ever since beginning the violin at age 10, Lauren has participated in numerous musical opportunities. This fall, she will be entering her senior year at Waubonsie Valley High School. Lauren plays in Waubonsie's Varsity Chamber Strings, the DuPage Symphony Orchestra, and has attended summer music camps for the past 5 years including Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp and currently Birch Creek Summer Music Academy. Already having experience in teaching, Lauren strives to provide her students with an enriching learning experience through emphasizing both technical skills and musicality. Lauren aspires to share her passion for music and the violin with others. Outside of school, Lauren enjoys playing the ukelele, competing on Waubonsie's Science Olympiad team, studying the German language, and spending time outdoors. image1.JPG
